Downtown Business Alliance Announces Pivot to Downtown Parker Holiday Market
The new event marks a shift from the parade to a new kind of celebration—one that lasts all day and supports downtown businesses
PARKER, CO-- October 9, 2025— The Downtown Business Alliance (DBA), a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering a thriving business community and vibrant downtown district, is excited to announce a new direction for the 2025 holiday celebration in Parker with the Downtown Parker Holiday Market. The event marks a pivot away from the traditional Christmas Parade to a full-day community celebration designed to bring even more joy, connection, and opportunity to Parker’s residents and local businesses.
The Downtown Parker Holiday Market will take place Saturday, December 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at O’Brien Park. The market will feature handmade gifts from local artisans, delicious food trucks, children’s activities and an abundance of festive cheer. The event gives families a chance to celebrate the holidays all day long while supporting the small businesses that make downtown Parker unique.
“This new format allows us to bring the community together in a way that better supports local businesses while still capturing the magic of the holiday season,” said Shelli Mango, Board Chair of the Downtown Business Alliance. “The Downtown Parker Holiday Market is a wonderful opportunity for families to shop local, make memories, and celebrate everything that makes Mainstreet special.”
While the parade has been a beloved tradition, the rising costs of hosting combined with limited sponsorship and grant funding, made it difficult to sustain. As a nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of community members and business partners, the DBA carefully reviewed feedback from local business owners and found strong support for refocusing efforts on a more accessible and beneficial event for everyone.

Will the parade come back in the future?
The DBA will continue evaluating future event opportunities based on community feedback, sponsorship availability, and downtown growth. The DBA is open to speaking with local organizations willing to assist with coordinating the Holiday Parade in the future. For now, our focus is on making the Holiday Market a signature annual event that brings the community together and supports our downtown economy.
Was this decision made because of financial issues?
The decision wasn’t about financial hardship—it was about responsible stewardship and long-term sustainability. The DBA wanted to ensure resources were invested in an event that maximizes community benefit, business participation, and holiday joy.
How much money has already been raised for the parade?
The DBA has raised approximately $23,000 for the 2025 Parade. The overall budget for the parade is $59,500. With less than 6 weeks to raise an additional $30,000, the DBA Board held an emergency vote to move away from the parade and focus on the Holiday Market. If the DBA were to continue with planning and paying for the parade, it would have placed the organization and any future Downtown Parker events in jeopardy.
How does this benefit downtown businesses?
Unlike a short parade, the market keeps people downtown throughout the day—shopping, dining, and engaging with local businesses. It’s designed to boost economic activity, visibility, and connection between residents and merchants.
